Design your own Video Application

Averlogic Innovation Challenge is a competition open to engineers who design Video Editing, Video Algorithm, and Video Pattern Generator applications.

We invite developers around the world to submit potential video applications which incorporate the AL462 FIFO and the AL462 FIFO development board for ALTERA FPGA platform.

The AL462 is the world most advanced 4K2K UHD FIFO memory. This FIFO memory will face the needs of a new world: UAV, unmanned vehicle, 5G/4G data station and IOT video/audio. Averlogic wants to encourage engineers to join this challenge and imagine, design and test creative applications using the new AL462. We together can create a better and safer future.

Eligible teams will receive a FREE AL462 development kit and get the chance to win a big prize in Finals!

Prize detail:
In the first round, Averlogic will conduct a contest based upon design applications submitted by all teams. These proposals will be evaluated by a panel of judges from FPGA distributors and Averlogic staff, who will determine which teams move on to the next round. There will be 10 winning teams in the first round. Each of these 10 winning teams will be awarded with a video development kit.

In the second round, the teams will start building their proposed application using the video development kit. When the application is ready, they must record a video showing the application in operation and submit it to Averlogic.

After that, Averlogic will upload the video demos on Averlogic YouTube Channel and viewers will vote their favorite finalist videos. There will be a voting period of 15 days, once it concludes the jury will consider the most voted videos as well as the technical features and the viability of the project. Finally, the jury will announce the winner. The most voted application will be awarded with USD 500.

How to enter:
Each team must have a minimum of 1 member and a maximum of 5 members. Each team should submit two documents to Averlogic.

3. The 10 finalist teams need to submit a video demo about the application proposed and introduce the following topics:
- Main components
- Explanation about main functions and technical details
- Video Demo

Dates and eligibility:
Opening: 1st of September
End of registration phase and project submission: 15th of November
First round winners known by: 22nd of November
End of application video submission: 28th of January
Second round winner known by: 4th of February

Judging Criteria:
Averlogic Innovation Challenge 2018 involves two rounds of judging.

The first round.
The total score that the judges give each application will determine the 10 finalist teams.

The applications are judged based on 4 different criteria, on a scale from 0-10, where scores can be any number between 0-10. Each criterion is worth a maximum of 10 points, with 10 points being exceptional, 5 points being average and 0 points being no competence.

The second round.
After uploading the 10 videos on Averlogic YouTube channel. Visitors can vote the best video during 15 days. The jury will consider the most voted video as well as the technical features and the viability of the project. The winner will receive the USD500 award.

Contest Rules:

Teams can be no larger than 5 members, all entrants must be at least 18 years of age and each team can submit 1 entry to the contest

All entries must be submitted before the announced deadline.

All designs will be based on the AL462 FIFO and the AL462 FIFO development board for ALTERA FPGA platform.

Each design must be created by the participants submitting it. Designs containing open source work must clearly cite ownership and/or authorship. Designs containing third party IP must demonstrate permission for its use.

By entering the competition, you acknowledge that you are the creator of the submitted project and allow Averlogic to use your content for promotional purposes.

Teams must not include sponsor logos in their designs.

AverLogic reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or (temporarily) suspend this Contest where required by law or if it becomes technically corrupted or if for any reason the Internet portion of the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infections by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond AverLogic’s control, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest. AverLogic further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify anyone found to have manipulated the Contest or its operation.
