HD Video Development Kit,
Here and Now!
AverLogic 4.8 Gbps HD FIFO and Bitec DVI I/O HSMC daughter cards for Altera’s Cyclone III FPGA -
HD Video Development Kit for HD Video Application
(Taipei, Nov. 30th, 2011) AverLogic Technology Corporation, professional Audio/Video Solutions provider, introduces the HD (High-Definition) video Development kit for key application markets at HD video capturing, manipulation and Networking. This HD Video Development kit consists of Altera Cyclone III FPGA main board embedded dual HSMC ports, a 4.8 Gbps HD FIFO (First-In-First-Out) HSMC daughter card and a DVI HSMC daughter card that are used to facilitate validation or implementation of HD video solutions.
This development platform demonstrates a complete usage of an HD video input from DVI, then data buffer in an 8Mbit x 32 Full HD FIFO and for the lossless quality image output to DVI. Data buffering in FIFO allows performing functions like Time Base Conversion, Frame Synchronizer, Scan Rate Conversion, image capture and also for many other applications. The FIFO sample codes are available along with the kit and can be executed on the platform to demonstrate functions such as
live video pass-through, frame freeze, frame capture and pixel comparison (motion detection). The design can easily be used as the basis of more complex systems such as Frame rate conversion, Video Data Insertion and other video metric algorithms.
The AL460A FIFOs are designed with a
straightforward bus interface, reducing implementation and debugging efforts, and helping customers
develop faster and more efficiently. The hardware and software design collaterals are optimized to be easily integrated as an add-on feature on existing systems, significantly reducing interface engineering issues commonly found in retrofit efforts. All of these advantages allow designers the luxury of being able to focus on core product functionality and quality. In short, customers benefit from
simplification of design, reduction in development time, savings on development costs, and hastening of time-to-market.
AL460A HD-FIFO Module and HSMC Daughter Card
The AL460A modules offer a maximum 4.8 Gbps data throughput and are designed with
Dual Embedded AL460A-7-PBF (or AL460A-13-PBF) chips to demonstrate the full potential of HD-FIFO technology.
An HSMC Adaptor board with a standard HSMC interface can be connected to the AL460A module via the two 50-pin connectors; this Adaptor Board can then be attached directly to an Altera FPGA development board with HSMC expansion port for
validating and benchmarking chipsets.
